A short drive away from Stafford Bungalow lies Ravana Rock,
the behemoth mountain dedicated to Ravana, the mythical demon king of Sri Lanka. It is said that the king’s flying peacock aircraft used to be parked in a crevice between two parts of the raw rock that makes up the mountain range.
As you venture near the mountain, you will be enveloped by a feeling of awe for the legendary ruler, who still seems to hold a mythically realistic impact over the villagers who live under the mountain range.
The trek takes some effort, yet spectacular views will refresh your aching feet and re-energise as you wind through high-altitude forests, which can be smothered in mist in the blink of an eye.
